Gamebore DTL Grand Prix 2022 – Practice Day 30/6/22

Well, I’ve made it to East Yorkshire!

This competition is one that I’ve been looking forward to since I found out it was happening. As I mentioned last time, I’m so glad to see it survive the closing of Mid Wales Shooting Centre in 2020.

I have fond memories of the few times I was there competing in this event, particularly in 2017 when I had an awesome weekend – 100/300 on the Friday, 100/298 on the Saturday, and another 100/300 on the Sunday. That last 300 got me into the shoot-off for AA class that day, which I lost by 1 point.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic to do that again!

We’ll have to see how we get on, but everything is set for a great weekends shooting.

The targets are fantastic, at least today. Bright orange, showing up like orbs, and flying superbly – just begging to be shot!

They aren’t the usual Corsivia full eco-mix because the ingredients for those comes from Russia – and we all know why there’s a shortage from there right now! Instead, they are a hybrid mix, which doesn’t make much of a difference, except that they don’t produce obvious clouds of smoke when you blow them up.

Actually, it’s almost like I’ve brought Two Counties about 330 miles North!

2 practice rounds shot today; the first one was a perfect straight, and I got my miss and second barrel gremlins out of the way in the second one, so all set for the JR Hall Memorial Trophy tomorrow.

Start time for the morning is 10am, squad 2, so lets see if we can go out and do some damage!

The squads list and rotation for tomorrow.
